YouthBank is a UK wide grantmaking scheme. It’s run by young people for young people. Local YouthBanks provide grants to projects led by young people which benefit the community and the young people taking part.
The unique thing about YouthBank is that it is young people themselves who make the decisions about how their local YouthBank is run and who gets the grants. Here in Bath & N E Somerset YouthBank is part of the Council’s Youth Democracy Project. We work out of the office at Peasedown Youth Centre and meet there once a week. From 2008-11 we will have £175,000 per year to give out in grants and to run the project. If you’ve got a good idea for a youth project, you can apply for some of the money. Or, if you’d like to become a grantmaker, you can join the YouthBank team. You must be between 13 and 19. Whether you’re interested in getting some money or in giving it out contact us.
